European boat design category C INSHORE: Designed for voyages in coastal waters, large bays, estuaries, lakes and rivers where conditions up to, and including, wind force 6 and significant wave heights up to, and including, 2 m may be experienced.
Family catamarans are good for both quiet and extreme rest for a crew of 2-3 persons. In a basic set the yachts have 2 sails: staysail and mainsail. If necessary and if you are skilled enough you can operate Ducky 17 by yourself without any help. These boats are good for long, complicated trips in oceans, seas, rivers and lakes. The construction of these catamarans is more complicated, but like all the other catamarans of the Ducky family is very easy to assemble.
For those, who has already mastered operating of yachts in basic set and want to get even more speed of Ducky 17, we offer extra gennaker sail. This is an asymmetric spinnaker,
that is usually used on yachts in case of downwind. Having such sails on a board in a fresh wind, catamarans are able to get into gliding mode and essentially increase the speed.
It is possible to equip yachts Ducky 17 with outboard engine up to 3l. Just for this purpose there is an extra transom board, it can be attached to stern seat.
Frame, mast and connecting elements are made of duralumin alloy D16T and AMg, and protected from sea water corrosion by anodizing.
Centerboard and rudder are fiberglass.
Sail is made of Dacron Polyant , weight 170g/sq.m (0,41 lbs/sq.f)
All fastening elements are made of stainless steel.
Floats have 2 sections, divided by waterproof wall, made of PVC-fabric Valmex, weight 1000 g/sq.m (2.44 lbs/ square feet)
